Studio J Digital Scrapbooking

Do you find that you don’t have enough time to drag out all of your scrapbooking supplies just to start a project and work for 30 minutes before your kids/pets/husband interrupt you?

How about finishing an entire layout in 15-30 minutes or less! It’s easy with Studio J digital scrapbooking. Studio J uses the same papers, colors, and embellishments as the paper products from Close to My Heart. The patterns are preset, but there are so  many to choose from! All you have to do is pick photos, place and resize them (no more cropping before hand or resizing!) and add embellishments and colors.

I’ve been having a lot of fun with this lately. Here are a few of my layouts.

Handmade Ornaments–Alcohol Inks

I had a great time making ornaments today! I got the idea from a blog here.

I’ve had alcohol inks and the applicator sitting around for awhile amongst my scrapbooking supplies, so I decided to give it a try! The ornaments I purchased at ACMoore, they were on sale for $3.99! Sweet! I splurged while I was at it and got a few extra ink colors.

Here are the supplies you will need:

Alcohol Inks
Applicator & extra pads
Clear glass ornaments
Glitter if desired
Cricut + cricut vinyl
Transfer tape

DSC01699

Start by applying ink to the pad on the applicator. I usually put 6 dots with two drops on each.

DSC01701

Stamp/rub ink onto the ornament, adding more drops the the pad if needed. If a darker color is desired, you can go over it again once it’s dry.

DSC01704DSC01707DSC01708

Add glitter to the inside before putting the top back on the ornament if desired. I found that once I shook it up a bit, the glitter stuck to the sides due to the static.

DSC01713

Cutting the Vinyl. Since I bought my Cricut expression, I’ve been wanting to try cutting vinyl but hadn’t gotten to try it yet. This was the perfect time!

I used the winter wonderland cartridge to cut out Joy on white vinyl. I set the speed and pressure both on 3, so that the machine only cut through the adhesive backed vinyl and not the backing.

DSC01714

Next lay transfer paper over the design and use a bone folder or other object to rub it as you would a rub on.

DSC01716

Carefully peel off just the desired design.

DSC01717

Adhere to your project, rubbing carefully so that the entire design is adhered to the ornament.

DSC01718

Carefully remove the transfer tape.

The red ornament is for a giveaway on my friend Amy’s Blog -

And the blue is for an ornament contest at work! Hope you all like them!

A Stampin’ Fun Day

Today my sister and I attended the Heirloom York Rubber Stamp & Paper arts festival. There were TONS of amazing crafters present and just about any type of stamp you could possibly want. We participated in a couple of very fun make and take projects.

The first was a vendor called “Purrs and Pants.” They carry wood mounted stamps that are ALL cat or dog themed. The stamps were so adorable! When I saw these candy holders, I just had to make one! She looks a little like Abby – so cute! Smile

DSC01259

Next we did a make and take at “The Paper Cut” with some fabulous paper.

Here’s the card. What we did was ink the card in desert sand and blue to make the sand and the sky. The natural texture and sheen of this Wave Astrosilver paper made it shimmery and beautiful. We wiped off the excess ink, and stamped the rest with staz on ink to keep it from smearing.

DSC01254

Look at that shine! I’m in love. I bought a pack, of course. I got the pack of cards, though I probably will end up cutting them to make cards like above.

DSC01257

When I got home, I played around for awhile and ended up making birthday cards for a few upcoming birthday parties. This is all Close to My Heart, using up some scraps I had laying around. Cute and simple.

Until next time, keep stamping!

August is exciting!!

Hello everyone! August is exciting, and no, not just because my birthday falls in August! Winking smile

August 1 marks the release of the Fall/Winter 2011 Idea Book/Catalog, and there are so many exciting new things I don’t know what to share first!

You can view and order online right away on my website http://lisaschaefer.myctmh.com. The first thing you might notice is that the stamp prices have gone down! That’s right, ALL of the stamps are now less expensive.

There also have been changes to our B&T paper. The paper packets are less expensive, and have high quality paper, with a zip strip on the top that can be used on your projects.

There is also now no minimum people required for a gathering, so just one person can place a gathering order ($150 or more) & earn hostess perks!

Cricut Cartridge!

Yes, CTMH has teamed up with Cricut & has a fantastic package you can buy now! It includes an exclusive Cricut cartridge called Art Philosophy, 3 sheets of coordinating chipboard & 3 coordinating D-size stamp sets, all for $99! The cartridge works out to only $31!

An awesome thing about this is that you can cut out an image, stamp it, then fix it to the chipboard as they all coordinate!

I love all of the 700 unique images on this cartridge, there are boxes, 3D flowers, 2 complete fonts, and so much more!

Beach Card

When Amy, my good friend who runs the blog http://oneartmama.blogspot.com/ , asked me to be a guest blogger for her during her vacation, I was delighted! I love her artwork, and all the fun creating things that she does with her son, Noah. The beach theme she requested is so fun for summer! My post will run on August 5, 2011. Here’s a preview!

I decided to use my cruise stamp set to create a simple beach card. Here’s what I came up with:

beach card

Materials:

Cruisin’ Stamp Set D1471
Crystal Blue Cardstock (Bright Blue Shade Pack – X5902)
Desert Sand Cardstock – 1273
Colonial White Cardstock - 1388
Crystal Blue Ink - Z2117
Desert Sand Ink – Z2118
Goldrush Ink – Z2123
Stardust Glitz Glitter Gel – Z1313

Here’s the stamp set I used! This set is great for cruise or beach pictures or cards! I love the quotes. It is from the Spring/Summer 2011 idea book, and is available for only the next 6 months.

Here’s a card I made using this stamp set and my new favorite thing – Liquid Glass! I painted it over the flat stamped firework, and it really made it POP!
